3I normally try to stay miles away from shoulder "issues" with pitching prospects. With that in mind, Espino was blowing guys away but after the 2 surgeries a complete lottery pick. Pozo has become a very good backup C & Fernandez a reliable setup RP. Both are redundant in STL, soooo see if we can hit the lotto.
Agree completely on the shoulder issues. As you say, "a complete lottery". His ceiling was SO high. Now? Getting McKenzie is a lottery as well. Maybe with 2 shots the Cardinals won't come up completely empty. For their part, Cleveland is just shy of a wildcard spot presently. They get some incremental help for their roster now in exchange for two players who may never factor in for them.
Not gonna lie, Fernandez actually wouldn't even make the Guardians 40 man roster if he started with Cleveland in the spring. Poho doesn't have good enough defensive chops to make Clevelands roster as a catcher... Also from what I can tell, Cleveland is going to ride the Espino train until he's out of options rather than trade him for a player who might not even make their roster.
