4M's go all in. Aranda and Naylor rotate between 1st and DH. Raley goes to RF. They get a new back up catcher and RP. Ray's get their catcher and SS of the future. They also get a new back up catcher, lefty 1st base and RP. Arizona get a 1st baseman for the future, toolsy CF prospect and Polanco who can DH as well as back up 2nd and 3rd
With every victory the Rays get, the more likely they buy or stand pat at the Deadline becomes. Trading Aranda in particular looks less and less likely by the day, not that it was ever very likely. As for this trade, Garver is going to be a no-go for the Rays. Too much dead money.
I don't think the Ray's will sell. They just seem to have a way of selling high and buying low and it seems to somehow work out most of the time. I had included Tellez and Garver to help offset what the Ray's would loose in Aranda. It would also free up a spot for their 2 1st base prospects next year if either are ready
Yeah, I get the logic of trading Aranda, but he’s also the best bat on the Rays this year and should be (but won’t) the starting 1B for the All Star team. The Rays trade him and they effectively signal to the team they are giving up on the season. They can’t do that, not with the record they currently have.
