3The Angels need to sell at the Deadline, and I would think they should focus on MLB ready players (or near ready players). This trade has them trading Detmers, a good not great reliever with SP potential, in return for an actual CFer (unlike the defensive holes they’ve tried all year), a ready to go back of rotation SP (or RP if they prefer), and a big bat 2B/1B/DH prospect a year away. For the Rays, they improve their Pen with Detmers and gain additional injury insurance should they need a SP in the future.
That would be interesting cause I've always wanted to pickup Detmers but Idk how I'd feel shipping them Kinney, with Taylor struggling and B Lowe possibly moving on there's no infield depth after him, sadly Pitre, Santana, and Barrios somehow all rank above Kinney, with Moore being ready for MLB Idk how interested the Angels would be though, you know who this trade really needs... Big Bob Seymour 😁
I knew Coop would bother some Rays fans. I don't want to trade him either, but I'm also still thinking he's more Aranda in the field than B.Lowe. If the Rays are really going for it this year, they have to improve their Pen and that can be costly at the Deadline.
