I would be ecstatic if the Rays could pull this trade off. It is looking like a fire sale is going to happen in Tampa Bay, and I am okay with it. I've resigned myself to the idea that too many prospects have failed for the Rays to have a bright future unless they add to prospect depth. All of our good players are either really young, or really old, and that the correct move is to trade vets and hope that you can produce some above average regulars for the future. You can't have all of Morel, Baz, Bradley, Mead, JLowe, and Walls be busts, BLowe and Kim on the IL, Wander go to jail, and McClanahan's career be in jeopardy and still think this .500 team is good enough to do something special. It isn't. And with virtually every quality prospect taking large steps backwards, it's time to think about improving the 2027 Rays. The Mets need a top of the rotation arm and a CF upgrade. This accomplishes both.

I’m good with this for the Rays, but I’d probably swap out Clifford and/or Suero for a pitching prospect. I hope you’re right on the fire sale. I worry the Rays are just going to stay the course.
