6I can’t see the Tigers agreeing to trade their 2024 first rounder, but if the Tigers were ok with this trade, then I hope the Rays would follow this trade with a full rebuild set of trades. I know an argument can be made that Melton is as good as Baz and that Lowe sucks, but those guys have much higher upsides than their replacements would have.
Agree. But there is a lot of talk about moving Skubal, even after winning the division. Baz isn't Skubal, but he's controllable. If they move Skubal, they'll need a replacement, and the 1st rounder who immediately got hurt might be available after the massive haul they get for Skubal. Rainer's value is high to me in this scenario, but so is Baz's. Rainer dislocated his right shoulder. When I did that in 2002, it ended my time of playing at a high level. Tore my capsule and partial labrum tear. Had "Bristow Capsular Surgery" (spelling might not be right). Strength was gone forever, and a couple years later was a full time coach. The surgeries have gotten better, but dislocation's are still devastating. He might never play SS again, and his value here doesn't show that.
Well...after a quick Google, it turns out the Bristow procedure still exists. If this guy tore something...good luck to him. My career ended. I remember 18 months after the surgery, I got on one of those rafts that are pulled behind a boat. I was probably 23, with like 5 20-22 year old ladies being pulled behind a boat while on our bellies, grabbing onto handles. The second the boat hit the gas, guess who fell off. Then fell off again. Had zero strength. I couldn't hold on to it yanking over my head. I knew it was over floating in the water waiting for the boat to come back. Absolute true story. Never went to another rehab session. I was done. The idea that a dislocated throwing shoulder is something that will be fully recovered from: Fucking nuts.
I didn’t know about the injury. Now I’m not interested in Rainer. From what I know of “dislocations” that term is used whenever there are multiple injuries to an area of the body involving ligaments, tendons and bones. It’s a horrific injury wherever it occurs.
That article today from DRays bay is such a piece of shit. "Build around Brandon Lowe and Yandy Diaz". Jesus, I love Lowe and like Yandy, but for fucks sake...Draysbay used to be the leader in sabrmetrics. CBS hired RJ Anderson. Sandy Kazmir (Jason Somebody) wrote for ESPN. Now it's "the Rays should build around BLowe and Yandy", and by the way, bet at this particular online casino. I miss the banter there, but holy fuck, skip right on through the articles... And that Flewellen guy... all he does is post photos of his hat collection and him posing with celebrities. It's become such an unserious site.
If you saw my comment to that article you know I had the same thoughts.
