3I suppose if you think Little had a breakout year in 2025 and will be just as good going forward, this trade makes sense. Jimenez improves the Rays’ depth and maybe Martinez and Maroudis develop into something. But more likely than not this trade has the Rays swapping a good closer for a collection of middling to nothing players. Martinez is so bad he isn’t even listed in Fangraphs. Rays say no. Just too little upside in the rest of the trade.
So swap out Martinez for somebody of similar value, who would you add? Jimenez is ready to handle shortstop day to day and is out of options. He will deliver more value than Walls.
The problem though is that I don’t have any interest in seeing the Rays acquire Jimenez, Martinez or Maroudis, and I don’t want to trade B.Lowe to an AL team.
