💁🏼♀️ Here's (one of the many) problem(s) with Marte... he's spending less and less time at 2B. 139 GS in '23, 109 GS in '24, 99 GS in '25. Arizona is mixing him in at DH to help keep him off the IL and that’s not reversing itself any time soon. And, the infield would be Casas, Marte, Story & Mayer. 🤕 🤕 🤕 🤕 History has shown not to be the healthiest collection of infielders. 👎

This isn’t a very good take. He also has had over 550 PA in those years too. The Red Sox are obviously in the market to improve other areas of the infield as well. The Marte contract is friendly enough to not force them into leaving that market. He would immediately become one of your top position players and with the pitching depth that the Red Sox have, giving up Early and Crawford would be worth the return. The D-Backs are able to add to 2 guys with control to their rotation.
The D-Backs can have Early (and a PTBNL) straight up for Marte if they are willing to include $20m ($5, $7, $8 in ‘28, ‘29 & ‘30) No Money = No Deal, and the Red Sox won’t be sending 66 in value, only half, his real worth. Besides Devers, The Sox haven’t paid or bought a multi-year contract that would take a position player past the age of 34 since 2018. They’re not going to start with taking Ketel Marte to 37yrs. Red Sox are not trading for Marte.
