💁🏼‍♀️ Is this another ‘26 Deadline deal proposal? Because the Twins have already come out and said that the club plans to hold onto trade candidates like Joe Ryan, Byron Buxton and Pablo López as they try to return to contention in 2026. And that they are looking into restocking their barren bullpen and adding at least one power bat to the lineup as areas of focus for ‘26.

This is an interesting trade from the Rays perspective. They wouldn’t need Taylor if they signed Marte, as Taylor is most likely headed to 2B if he stays a Ray. Simpson is a bit unnecessary too with the emergence of Mangum, who has a very similar skill set. So that just leaves Hopkins, the #1 pitching prospect for the Rays. I’d hate to give him up but it might be worth it to get Marte.
