6Trade works for me (for the Rays) but I doubt the Rays trade Baker with 3 years of control.
Yea but realistically they won't be competing for at least 2 probably 3 of those years and he ain't getting any younger or cheaper, my biggest hope is we're starting to see a front office change after seeing the Baz and B Lowe trades where they seem to focus on getting talent back and not the diamond in the rough piece, neither guy will be the next JC but they'd be able to contribute to a winning team though
I didn’t want to trade Baz, but it was a good trade and it won’t affect the Rays playoff hopes (which are low). The Lowe/Mangum/Monty trade was just ok in my opinion. I know BTV loved it but I think Mangum should have been valued much higher and I’m not nearly as high on Melton/Brito as some are.
I wasn't a big fan of the returns as much as I was the type of trade, players you could actually recognize, I was hoping Baz would get one more season to break out and maybe get a more quality trade over a quantity trade, expecting TB to develop an 18 yo OF and young catcher doesn't sound ideal, I'm really surprised Forret ranks so much higher than the other guys but I liked him, Melton doesn't blow me away but at least he has power potential, it's just concerning cause 6 of the top 30 came from this past draft which means the next competitive window is pretty far away
Agreed. I’m always surprised at DRB by the number of guys who don’t understand how far from the next window the Rays actually are. I am hopeful we end 2027 with the making of a good roster but a lot has to go right for that to happen.
Well the problem is windows aren't guaranteed either, this coming year the window was supposed to be coming cause Wlliams, Isaac, Taylor, Morgan, Keegan, Simpson, etc... were all supposed to take over AAA last year and we saw what happened there, we'll be lucky if this was just a fluke year and the system goes back to normal but the window definitely isn't opening any time soon
