3Rays probably won’t have interest in Stephenson. He only has 1 year of control and isn’t particularly strong behind the plate. That’s not what the Rays should be looking for in a season that should see them trade a number of pitchers at the deadline to complete their rebuild. I like Lewis but he’s not enough for Simpson.
This site says Simpson is an OF and Spotrac says he is a 3B. Is he both? At any rate giving up our starting catcher one year left or not would not be good unless Reds could go out and find a suitable replacement. This young OF Simpson seems like a decent hitter but Reds need an OF that has good home run power. He went 109 games and had 0 home runs.
Simpson plays outfield exclusively. I believe he played 2B in college. Maybe that’s where the 3B comes from. At any rate, Simpson has no power. He hits for average, but needs to learn to walk more. He’s crazy fast though. I expect 50-75 SBs this year, depending on playing time, and 100 SBs wouldn’t shock me if he has a good year.
