Cleveland has no interest in this deal at all... They don't trade draft picks, and they aren't trading their 2nd and 3rd best rated SP prospects for someone who has two years of control left... Chourio for Crooks, I could see Cleveland thinking about, but the rest of the deal is a definite no... If the media said Cleveland inquired about Donovan and a deal wasn't done then its likely they are no longer interested in Donovan

The only way Cleveland is interested in Donovan is if Kwan is dealt. There is no place else to play him and not undermine their young pitching staff. I just don't think Donovan is a Cleveland target.

Since Donovan's name was mentioned in the media, it was likely Guardians put in what they felt was a strong offer for Donovan and the Cardinals said no then the Guardians pulled themselves out of the Donovan discussion....

Looking back on this since Donovan got moved... The Cardinals likely wanted this type of deal in real life... It would have been Donovan straight up for that return... No way Cleveland would have been willing to even entertain that...

Especially with Stephen looking like he's going to be a stud. Word has it he's back touching 97 with his good 4 pitch mix and fantastic control. It may just be me, but I'm big on not letting good SP prospects go when their values are low due to injury. I was hoping Cleveland would trade Kwan to the Dodgers and that River Ryan would be the headline in the return. I would have never dealt Ryan for the value he had the time which has since rebounded. Stephen is on the same level and most folks don't realize it. He's going to force he way into the rotation this season. He's that good.
