3I'm not sure how to shake the roster to make this work. Just wanted to see how the values aligned. I know the Rockies need a 1B and Cleveland could use a legit CFer. I like Feltner's stuff and think Carl Willis could turn him into a solid #3 and maybe even a #2.
Problem is Feltner isn't better than the 5 we have in Cleveland right now... It would be Messick going to Columbus... Doyle would have his spot without a doubt... Though that would send Martinez to AAA since Martinez cannot play SS... This adds OF defense and a RH bat, but not sure it actually makes us better... At this point though, if I am the Rockies, I see if these two can rebuild their values and I move them separately at the trade deadline for more talent back than just Kayfus...
You missed the point about Feltner Coach. Even though he has struggled in Colorado, his "stuff" is as good or better than anyone on Cleveland's staff thus my comment about Carl Willis getting his hand on Feltner. Why would Martinez's inability to play SS factor into this? If Arias isn't at SS then it will be Rocchio. I think you're underselling Kayfus' value a little. If I ran a ML team and needed a 1B I'd be calling Cleveland to ask about Kayfus. The fact that he can play a pretty decent corner OF too is just icing on the cake. He's a damn good hitter too. The Rockies could do what you say with Doyle and wait to see if he rebuilds his value, but there is a chance he doesn't. At the same time, seems logical to expect Kayfus to get better too. Basically, you could take that approach with every player traded. I think they'd deal both Doyle and Feltner. Cleveland needs another SP of Williams and Bibee's ilk for the playoffs, and it wouldn't hurt through the season either.
